Even though he had an average training camp logging 1 assist in 4-preseason games, Shane Wright has received the confidence of Kraken's GM Ron Francis to play in the NHL this season according to The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun.

"I don't want to draw a line in the sand, but I would think he's with us for the year," Francis told The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun. "It's just a matter of how things go and managing it. But I think he'll be fine. He's fit right in. He does a lot of good things."

"Him coming to us in Seattle is going to be good for him," Francis said. "It will give him time to develop and mature as a player; get stronger. He's still only 18 years old.

"There's a lot of progression in front of him. But I'm really pleased with what we see. He thinks the game well. He sees the game at a high level. His hands are extremely quick. He sees the right play."

After becoming Seattle's first round pick this summer (4th overall), Wright's career didn't begin as expected. Montreal picking Juraj Slafkovsky instead of him, as he was projected to be the first overall pick according to many observers, probably changed every plans in Wright's mind.

But now that the Kraken has added Matthew Beniers at the end of the 2021-22 season, who passed his audition by scoring 9 points (3 G, 6 A) in 10 games, and Shane Wright during the Draft, things go shift around pretty quickly for the newest team in the league.

Seattle fans will definitely be excited to know that both young, new players should be playing and showcasing their talent in the NHL all season long in 2022-23.
